Ground Beef Stroganoff

3 pound lean ground beef
2 small onion finely diced
1 16oz fresh mushrooms container
2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
2 packet (0.87 oz) brown gravy mix
2 cup cold water
2 can (10 oz) cream of mushroom soup
1 cup sour cream
24 oz wide egg noodles

Instructions

1. Chop onions
2. Fill a pot with water and heat to a boil.
3.Add olive a large skillet pan, I use my dutch oven, and heat over  medium medium-high heat. Add onions and begin to sauté.
4. While onions are sautéing chop up mushrooms. When all mushrooms are chopped ad to sautéing onions and sauté mushrooms. Add olive oil as needed to prevent burning.
5. When onions and mushroom are sautéed add in the 3 lbs of ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, salt &  pepper. Cook and crumble the ground beef  until it is no longer pink.
6. Drain excess grease/liquid.
7.Whisk together the contents of the gravy packet with the cold water until combined. Pour this into the ground beef.
8.Add the sour cream and cream of mushroom soup and stir everything together until combined.
9. Let the mixture simmer over medium or medium-low heat while the noodles cook (about 10 minutes). Stir constantly to prevent sticking and burning.
10. Cook noodles according to package instructions, until al dente. Remember to add about 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.
11.When the noodles are done cooking, drain them, do not rinse them. Add the noodles into the creamy ground beef mixture and stir together to combine.
12. Serve and enjoy!

I use the recipe from Together as a Family, I double the recipe and add an extra pound of ground beef. You can see the original recipe here!
